Happy New Year! and Bon Ane!

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23.

Stone of Help Haiti enters this calendar year with both unfinished business as well as a renewed vigor in what God has set before us. I thank God that “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed” and, therefore, have been given every opportunity to continue our outreach for the cause for Christ.

Each new year is symbolic of fresh beginnings in the lives of many throughout this world. It is a time to lay aside unfulfilled promises and dreams of the past in eager anticipation of what lies ahead. This sense of hope and promise is no less true in the land and lives of the Haitian people in spite of enormous obstacles that continue to remain in this country’s path.

January 12th marks the seventh anniversary of the deadly earthquake of 2010. The rebuilding effort continues to be an enormously slow process in many areas. In addition, the remnant of Hurricane Matthew from this past October continues to pose physical and economic hardship of the most extreme kind.

Rebuilding God’s church in Sanite Les Cayes…

The deadly forces and devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew was felt most severely in the area of Les Cayes. SoHH faithfully serves the church and community of Sanite in this remote mountain region.

After the storm, the physical church was completely destroyed along with everything else on the property. Due to your loving support, Stone of Help Haiti is coming alongside with the necessary aid in effort to rebuild this community’s place of worship.

Pastor Abel and I were able to see the wreckage from Hurricane Matthew firsthand, along with a faithful team of saints from our churches in Port au Prince.

The journey from our mission home to Sanite is both lengthy and treacherous at times. It begins with a four hour ride to the foot of the mountains. There, we cross the river for a forty-five minute motorcycle ride taking us as far as possible up the mountain until there are no more passable trails. The rest of the way is accomplished by a three mile uphill hike on foot.

There is literally no other way to navigate this terrain. Therefore, the vast majority of the locals, even at this present time, are left to face the hurricane’s aftermath entirely alone.

Stone of Help Haiti is ever grateful for your generous support in the wake of this tragic occurrence. While livestock and crops were destroyed, your swift response made it possible for Stone of Help Haiti to reach out to many at the time of their most critical needs.

Please continue to pray for Haiti, and in particular, for the mountain community of Sanite. As of this writing, church construction is well under way as the foundation and walls are now in place. Our next necessary goal is to raise an additional $5,000 for the church’s roof and to bring God’s church in Sanite to its completion. Your generous financial support make this work possible.
